When a client commissions a piece of furniture, I will call round with my portfolio to talk about the proposed piece. All the elements that go together to make a piece of furniture, such as function, style, materials and size will be discussed. This information will enable me to do an initial drawing on returning to my workshop. I always work closely with the client, making as many changes as is necessary to prepare a final working drawing. With the go ahead from the client, I will usually ask for a deposit of 20%.
